AIC Year in Review: Track and Field

The level of talent on display at the AIC Track and Field Championships continues to be as high as any other schoolboy carnival in the country. Performances over the two days of the Championships showcased both the outstanding athletes that attend AIC schools but also the wonderful school spirit that exists within all Colleges. In 2023, Ambrose Treacy College again joined the Track and Field competition with overall athlete participation numbers across the Association close to 1000 students at the Championships.

Marist College Ashgrove continued their recent success in the carnival, not only again claiming the Secondary Championship, but also claiming the Primary Championship Shield. This is a very rare ‘double’ in AIC Championship history. This success at the AIC level continued for the Marist College Ashgrove Senior Track and Field team who went onto finish 3rd in Australia at the National Track and Field Teams Championship- the best result of any Queensland School in the Senior Male division.

In the inaugural induction to the AIC Hall of Fame, both Dane Bird-Smith (St Peters) and Simon Patmore (St Patrick’s) were inducted for their achievements in Track and Field.
