St Peters Lutheran College Claims 10th Consecutive AIC Secondary Swimming Championship

The 2026 AIC Swimming Championships delivered an outstanding day of racing at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre, with records falling and school pride on full display as thousands of students, staff and supporters packed the venue. With over 800 students representing the 8 AIC member colleges and AIC Guest College – Ambrose Treacy competing in 123 events catering for boys from Years 5 to Open, the AIC Championships remains one of the largest independent schools swimming competitions in Australia.

St Peters Lutheran College continued its remarkable dominance of the competition, securing the Secondary Aggregate Shield for the 10th consecutive year. Marist College Ashgrove produced an outstanding performance and pushed St Peters all the way throughout the evening, finishing in a strong second place. Villanova finished third.

In the Primary competition, it was Iona College who claimed the Primary Aggregate Shield, with Marist College Ashgrove again finishing as runners-up after a strong showing across the program. St Laurence’s were able to claim third in the primary aggregate.

The championships featured a number of exceptional individual and team performances, with five individual records and three relay records broken across the evening – a testament to the high standard of swimming across the AIC competition. Adding to the excitement of the event, the 2026 Championships were the first in AIC history to be livestreamed, allowing families, alumni and supporters to follow the action from anywhere. The full event is available to replay through AIC TV.
