Well, what a term! Great to get another full term of sport in, thanks to everyone for their cooperation with COVID requirements.
Marist Ashgrove featured heavily in this term’s final results – winning the 1st XI, Football Aggregate and Rugby Aggregate. A wonderful finish to the term after already taking the Cross Country title a few weeks back. They couldn’t quite take the ‘three-peat’ though with Lauries absolutely dominating the chess boards to take the overall title. Outstandingly winning 3 chess senior premierships and winning both the junior grades (non-aggregate) as well. Not to mention their 1st XV Rugby undefeated win, their first since 2008.
Iona equalled Ashgrove in the football premiership race, both schools winning 5 and Iona only two points behind Ash in the aggregate. There were some movers and shakers amongst the football codes this term with St Peters and Padua leading the way. St Peters moved from 6th to 3rd on the aggregate – their 1st XI showed early promise. We will need to keep a close eye on the rugby scene over the coming years as Padua took out the 10A, 9A, 8A and 8B premierships. This helped their move up to 3rd in the aggregate behind the very strong Iona and Ashgrove. Could there be another back to back First win on the horizon at Kedron?
Big thank you to the players, coaches and Directors of Sport.
