What an exciting year to come! The first round of sport kicks off this weekend, with some great anticipation about the inaugural AFL season for Years 7-12. The seniors kick off on Friday night at Yeronga and Sandgate FC’s whilst the Year 7’s are getting their first taste of footy at Runcorn (SLC fields) on Saturday morning. As in previous years, the primary AFL will get going on Saturday morning at Yeronga. The primary comp has been a huge success since its inception and all schools are looking forward to the senior fixtures. We have 7 schools involved in AFL. Once again we have been supported greatly by AFL Qld (AFLQ).
The regular term one sports, Cricket, Volleyball and Swimming have been in full trial mode for the past few weeks and we wish all teams and squads the very best for Round 1 on Saturday.
With the announcement of Rugby League as an endorsed sport for Term 3, planning has been busy and exciting! League will be played on Saturdays in term three at a central venue each week. The association have consulted and been advised by the NRL who are extremely excited to see this sport feature on the AIC calendar for the first time.
